Random

Wow! It's been forever since i've written in here. Life is busy as a college student.
Last weekend I went with some friends to a Bridal Expo at the Ithaca mall in NY. It was so much fun to be treated like a bride and have people ooh and ahh over my ring and ask when my wedding date is. I didn't really need half of the information that was being given at the expo, but it was fun to go with a friend anyways.

I feel the need to start wedding planning again, I haven't really made any plans since Christmas break back in late December, early January. But I have so many things finished, like my photographer, and where i'm getting my flowers, and I have my dress, and what the tuxes and bridesmaids will be wearing, and what I want the invitations to look like. Now I just have to put some of these things into action.

This morning I went to a bible study held by the dean of women here at Baptist Bible College. She holds a bible study for engaged women in hopes of helping to prepare them for marriage from a woman's point of view. It was so amazing. We talked about how to biblically love our husbands this morning, and then we talked about some struggles in communication that we have, and just some differences between men and women. (who ever knew we were so different!)
All in all a good morning, and now waiting for my parents to come to hang out with me and Derek!

Wedding Thoughts of the Day

So my new favorite magazine, and new favorite website is Wedding Star. http://www.weddingstar.com/
They have so many amazing ideas for your wedding, and for favors and place settings, etc. I have their latest magazine, and it is so much fun to look at! I could just pour over that magazine for hours. (I did mention that I love wedding magazines right?!)

Something that I got the idea for from one of their magazines is the sand ceremony. I won't totally describe how it works, you can look it up if you're really interested, or you can see it at my wedding. But it is a totally awesome idea, and I think we're going to use it at our wedding.

In other news, who ever knew that there is so much to think about when you're planning a wedding. It just totally blew my mind when i first started thinking about everything that we have to decide.
I don't know about any of you, but I wasn't one of those girls that has everything planned before I even met my fiance. Yes, I did dream about my wedding, but I did that more after I met Derek than before.
But still, it was just this last semester when Derek and I seriously started talking about getting married that I started pouring over wedding magazines. I wasn't really looking to plan my wedding, I was looking and dreaming about getting married. I was dreaming about when I could plan my wedding. I'm not one of those girls that thinks it's ok to start planning before I actually get engaged.
Oh well, I've had great fun picking things out, and deciding on colors and such. It's interesting too to realize that it's my wedding, so I don't have to go with what everybody else wants. I can pick stuff for just me, it's a day about me! (and Derek, I don't forget him!)

Wonderful Gifts

My family is amazing. I just opened my birthday gifts, (I just discovered something, when you're engaged to be married, your family likes to buy you gifts for your future house) and I took pictures of some of the wonderful gifts my family bought me that I will use in my new house.

But because of how weird posting pictures is...I will post the pictures one at a time.

Random

So this is just another random post, (hence the title) about wedding stuff. I want to be able to share cool things that i've thought of, and let my other female engaged friends post ideas that i could use as well. We'll call it a share to share experience. =)
It's really exciting to think that i'm getting married in August, scary at the same time too. I look at the stack of wedding planning books sitting next to me, and the long list of things that still have to be done, and then I wish that I was a more creative person. Some people are amazing and theme their entire wedding something like, "Nature Walk" or "Seashore". I wish I was as creative and could have everything in my wedding match one theme. Nope, instead you get little snippets of my "creativeness" hence me stealing other people's ideas and tweaking them a tad.
Did I mention the fact that I love looking at wedding magazines? They are awesome! There are so many really cool ideas in them, and pictures of really ugly wedding dresses!
But today, I got up and settled myself down on a couch in the livingroom, and purposed that I would do some wedding planning today. But, really the only thing I did was create this blog. I am debating about whether or not to post pictures of the bridesmaid dresses and pictures of my pretty flowers, still thinking about that one.
I think the other productive thing I did was cross off the things that I did over Christmas break.
Well...I would post more...but I am going to go celebrate my 20th birthday with my family!
Later Friends!

My Attendants

This is Katherine, my beautiful maid of honor. She is my best friend, we've known eachother since we were pretty young. We officially became friends at the age of 12, and now I'm 20 and she's 19 and we're still best of friends.
We used to play dress-up all the time, we played house with our dolls too, and then we'd get together and do eachother's hair and make-up.
She is currently a Junior at Cedarville and I miss her. But she agreed to be my maid of honor, and I will get to see her this summer! I'm excited!
She is so beautiful and talented, she plays the piano and has such a sweet spirit that puts everyone at ease when they meet her.
I love you Katherine, thanks for being my friend <3

This is Katie, another good friend of mine. She was my RA at BBC for three semesters. I really miss her now. She is currently finishing her degree at BBC by student teaching and she is also engaged, getting married in June. She and I have had many amazing conversations about weddings, our fiance's and just conversations about life. Katie has been a great role model for me and I love her to pieces!!!!!!! I was so excited when she agreed to be my bridesmaid!
Thank you for being such an amazing friend Katie! Luv you!

This is Jillian, my roommate and very good friend. We met my first semester at BBC and we hit it off instantly. We decided that we wanted to be roommates, so now we are, and we have a blast together! Jillian came with me when I picked out my wedding dress, and was one of the official photographers. =)
She agreed to be my bridesmaid and is having just as much fun as me planning and coordinating my wedding!
I love you Jillian!

This is Merissa, Katie's roommate, and another good friend of mine. She is also currently student teaching, and I miss her too!
I have many memories of visiting Merissa in her room and talking to her about a variety of different things.......plus we just have tons of fun! She is also another Bridesmaid......
I luv you Merissa!

This is Jamie, another friend from BBC. We met around the same time that I met Derek. She and her boyfriend started dating the day before Derek and I did, and they are a couple that we hang out with all the time. Jamie and I also have "girl time" where just the two of us hang out and go shopping, and have serious conversations about our men.
You are an amazing friend Jamie! I love you!

This is Rachel, my sister. We've had an interesting life, growing up together. We've had our fair share of arguments, and disagreements, but we're still sisters, and I love her! It was obviously a duh to have her in my wedding! It's pretty cool to see how excited she is about my getting married. =)

So those are my attendants, a bunch of really great girls that God has blessed me by putting them in my life! I am so thankful!

So I'm posting like a million times this first day of having my blog.....but I'm having fun, experimenting all that kinda stuff!!! So this post is to kinda give information about my dress and the girls dresses and who all is in my wedding.......actually now that I think about it...those can be seperate posts.........
Anywho, I'm not going to post a picture of my actual dress on my blog, because my fiance looks here and I don't want him to see a picture of the dress, but I will share about the day when I bought my dress.
I went over Thanksgiving break, and my mother, grandmother, sister and roommate went with me. I tried on so many dresses! I have never seen so many wedding dresses in one place before! I just wanted to share some pictures from that day......
So the above right picture is of one dress I tried on that had a ridiculously long train....it was so cool! The above left picture is of me, my mom, and my grandmother.
The below picture is of me and my sister.
I finally by the end of the day, decided which dress I wanted......and I love it!!!! It is so beautiful! I can't wait to wear it!

The Beautiful Ring

Here is the photo of the beautiful ring that my fiance gave me. He was so amazing and picked the ring out all by himself, he didn't have any of my input.....it was amazing! The center stone belonged to his grandmother......that just makes the whole thing totally awesome!
PROPOSAL STORY:
It was Saturday October 31, his parents had been there earlier in the day and had taken us out to eat. I was in a somewhat grouchy mood, it was raining. He took me to South Abington Park (in Clarks Summit PA) to a pavilion at this park and told me he had something to give me. (We had just passed our one year of dating, and I had given him a gift and he hadn't gotten me anything) He told me the gift was for our one year. So I smiled and he handed me a card, and I read the front, it was a very romantic card....I was thinking about how romantic he was, and then the inside was just better and I noticed as I was reading the bottom that he was reaching inside his coat pocket and as I read the bottom I saw, "Will you Marry Me?" and he got down on one knee and produced the box with the beautiful ring. I of course said yes. =)

Welcome!!!

So this is my very first time ever writing in a blog, it seems like so much fun! The purpose of this blog is to give information/keep people updated on how wedding plans are going. That and to post fun pictures and to tell silly stories. =)
Just to give all of the information at once, Derek and I are getting married on August 14, 2010. Other than that I will post random information at random times.
We got engaged on October 31, 2009 Currently there are 189 days until the wedding.
